- Dimitri Mendeleev published his version of the periodic table in 1869
- Others attempted had been made to arrange the known elements and the attempts failed
- Mendeleev realized that there was a natural plan where each element had a certain placement
- Mendeleev’s theory is "if all the elements be arranged in order of their atomic weights a periodic repetition of properties is obtained"
- He predicted the missing elements properties and when other chemists discovered the properties of other elements, they fit into the period table
- Although he wasn’t involved in chemical research, Mendeleev was still brilliant enough to come up with this table
