  • During the time Mendeleev created the periodic table, the world was a very chaotic and divided place

  • The Civil War was occurring and influenced the country in many different ways

  • During this time the art was inspired by the beauty of the United States

  • Later in the 1860’s the art revolved more around the war scenes

  • Because of the war the music was slow and weary, and was about the men who were fighting for what they believed in

  • The song “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” was a favorite of the North, and the song “Dixie” was popular amoung the southerners

  • There was a new need for weapons and ammo
